Haha, it’s so true. The Skytrain car I was in tonight had at least four bottles of booze in various levels of camouflage, and while the cops at Granville Station were dumping drinks, I’d guesstimate they caught no more than a tenth of what people had.
If Vancouver ever hosts anything like this again, we’ll need beer gardens.
Also: My favourite bit of the article is an offhand mention how “the public transit is scarily efficient”. So true. Props to Translink to keeping everything going and the city functioning. If we can survive (and, arguably, thrive) like this, than there’s no excuse for shutting down parts of downtown for, say, a comedy festival. If Montreal can do it, so can we.
